"I built this awesome coffee shop but you have to climb a ladder to get inside, why don't I have more customers?" - YouTubers, probably

Here's a free tip if you don't want to write out your captions longhand.
(NOTE: it uses OpenAI Whisper, yes I have complicated feelings about it, but if it's helping folks I'm going to recommend it)
1. install python3 and pipx
2. run `pipx install openai-whisper`
3. run `whisper [video file] --output_format srt`
4. Let it run, then take the .srt file and add it as a caption in YouTubeThat's it. You now have MUCH better captions.

Now, if your video is scripted, as mine often are, I have a much simpler solution:
1. In YouTube Studio, after uploading the video, I upload the script inside the "subtitles" tab.
2. I wait like an hour before publishing the videoThat's it. I don't think creators have much excuse anymore for poor captions. Other than you just don't want as many folks to enjoy your work.
