People complain on #threads that by federating, they have no control over where their posts go. That this can be dangerous. I guess with full federation, you can control who follows you using the protocol. That's nice.
But on most social networks, your posts are public. Even if people need to be logged in to see it, any user of that service can copy your posts anywhere else they want to. Bots can scrape them. Welcome to blogs and RSS.
Very few have thought at all about what #microblogging is.

@wjmaggos very few have thought at all about links. They're a thing that internet has had for awhile now that "links" to the webpage you're trying to go to or share.
This is dangerous and could cause people to have their posts shared without their permission. Links are not trustworthy and nobody should use them!
Seen similar posts on threads talking about Fediverse like we're evil and "oh no, someone could share my post and discuss it without my knowledge". I immediately took a screenshot.
Now it's saved forever and there's nothing they can do and they'll never know about it.
People are weird sometimes. Some just want to dislike something for any good reason so they grasp at straws trying to find a reason to hate until they realize that they have to make something up...️
