Tiktok is not some kind of new paradigm. It's yet another social network, one with an annoying gimmick (that it didn't even invent). A gimmick that makes it harder to do meaningful content and easier to have complete assholes as its superstars.

Imagine one day an app comes along that only lets you upload videos that are at least four hours long, and it becomes incredibly popular among kids and teens. Would somebody be stubborn and out of touch for not using it?

A. TikTok is not the internet, nor the new internet.

B. I find short form video rather annoying. I do like doomscrolling but I always preferred it to be mostly quiet. TikTok/short form video is a lot of things but not quiet. Why should I install TikTok when it doesn’t serve me a type of content I like and when there are lots of other platforms that do (like this one)?
