I thought this was how it was supposed to look for years

I remember when I discovered what astigmatism was when I was hanging out with some friends, complaining about how hard it was to see at night with one of them while our other friends stared at us in mounting horror as we all discovered that light is actually not supposed to be spiky.
-
I mean, it is. Everyone else just doesn't get to see it!
-
I love going to holiday light displays and just let my eyes relax and everything is all spiky with halos around, and it’s all quite overwhelming but really pretty.
I do hate driving at night, though.

I wear glasses and I still see this at night
Does that mean something is wrong with my eyes other than astigmatism

Hey buddy try scheduling an eye appointment next time funds are available, would be a natural next step (at least in an equitable world)

Prescription glasses expire as our eyes are constantly changing. You should get your eyes checked every two years minimum.

ICL surgery was fucking fantastic for me. If your insurance covers it, I highly recommend! I had a bad astigmatism in my right eye, and now I see 20/20 in both eyes! Fucking game changer.

My prescription stopped changing in my late 20s.
I'm almost 40 so I know that time is coming to an end.

You know it's been about that long. That's good thinking

Funds aren't a problem, it's actually thinking about it and doing it.
So I guess I'm going to get an appointment scheduled lol

Yep, that's when the nearsightedness and farsightedness start kicking in. That's the age I had to get my first bifocals.

Astigmatism can worsen over time. If you're having trouble, it's probably time to update your prescription

Yeah, my optometrist didn’t even sugarcoat it - went right to “and of course these will be progressive lenses”. WHAT?

Wear glasses like a NERD? No thanks, I like my light spiky (also too poor to afford eye doc + glasses lol).
