Correct, it's decentralized. I don't even care about my Nostr relays. I am well aware of my home server, especially when it starts returning some kind of errors

Shame, because on its face, I thought it was a really interesting technology that solved an underlying infrastructure problem in the fediverse's makeup.

You're technically right, although it does come with lightning/bitcoin integration — and a userbase of primarily cryptobros supplying the nonsense part.

I think tipping people for posts is really cool, though. They had a doge tip bot on reddit, but it didn't actually integrate with the network, so apparently when it shut down the owner of the bot just stole everyone's tips

For what it's worth. I suspect fed-run relays have sped up the Tor network substantially. I'm really mostly using it to avoid commercial tracking and passive dragnet so it doesn't really bother me...
