The supposedly russian bad guys are mostly not actually russian. Mostly they are some variety of native Germanic speaking actors. If the casting department is going for authenticity, it may be someone speaking the wrong branch of Slavic.

Any European really, Sean Connery might be dead but his memory lives on.

Yeah, really. Peter Stormare has been playing Russian villains for decades and he's Swedish.

Half of the actors playing Russian/eastern European villains are German or Swedish or something, and another quarter are British/American/Australian/Irish actors with varying quality of dialect coaching.

As if Hollywood hasn't been completely monopolized and enshittified to the point that they seem incapable of making anything worth watching.

Always cracks me up how Swedes are cast as Russians. Guess they convincingly do that stereotypical "Russian voice"

Are we still talking about casting?
