To quote a certain Atlus game I can’t stop playing, “Time marches on, and the age of a new king draws nearer.” This particular king, of course, is the Steam Deck, which has been a retro gamer’s dream since it launched.

But unless you’ve been paying close attention to the emulation scene lately, you may have missed the news that PlayStation 4 emulation is now up and running on Steam Deck. @killyourfm I presume some sort of highlevel emulation?

Yup, looks like they are emulating the APIs and running the x86-64 code directly, rather than emulating the CPU. (i.e. It's closer to Wine/Proton than MAME). Neat trick and congrats to the team for the results on SteamDeck

@dryak I'm on the fringes of understanding the technicalities behind this, and I appreciate the insight! Would this account for potentially better emulation performance than we've seen with PS3? If I understand correctly, the PS3's Power PC-based processor was very, very proprietary and difficult to develop for.

@killyourfm I have started Blooodborne as well on ShadPS4. It plays flawlessly and I'm loving it so far! Great job by the ShadPS4 team!
