Hey uh. Weird thought but. Why does every house I’ve been to (in the UK)… Have the kitchen sink face out onto a window?

Like… When you’re washing dishes… You look out of the window… Why does the kitchen sink always end up next to a window inside a British house?

@helle @yassie_j Generally the drain pipe from any plumbing appliance needs to go out through the outside wall to the drain/stand pipe so you’ll also find the bathroom setup this way

And this generally applies to new houses too

@helle @yassie_j Its my experience that most houses to this day are built with the soil pipe going up the back outside wall.

@helle @yassie_j Putting it inside takes away valuable internal space & makes replacing it when it inevitably reaches end of life more difficult
