consumer routers are so fucking scummy it's so misleading. it's not just about your router following the latest wifi standard my god. CHECK YOUR UPSTREAM SPEED. if your isp offers you 100/20 NO """gaming""" router in the world is going to make that faster. AUGH

@[email protected] what i do is ip forwarding from an AT&T combobox to a mikrotik rb5009 and i have a couple access points. i do actually have a need for a gigabit internal network (and my switch attached to the router has SFP+ support and is l3...). i hate how misleading consumer routers are though. It doesn't fucking matter if you have wifi 697xX+++ it matters that your isp's bandwidth cap is 50 megabit up and 20 megabit down.

@[email protected] i have a mix of wifi 5 and 6 access points (mainly bc wifi 5 was cheaper at the time and my actual home network is limited to 100/20 (megabit) which wifi 5 can handle perfectly fine. my wifi 6 aps are just newer models with better antennas...
