@guacamayan Facebook is not a Utility, I repeat Facebook is not a Utility. Don't not use it as such. At best it's a dusty photo ablum full if people you used to send Xmas cards to. Before Facebook made Xmas cards meaningless. At worst it's social manipulation/spyware & propaganda all rolled into one.

@alexisdyslexic Look, I agree in theory, but how do you get that message to the hundreds of millions of people around the world for whom Meta is, basically, the internet? People who don't know what a URL is? Last night I tried to show a waiter how to use a Russian-alphabet quiz on the web, and had to open his browser. The raft of permissions showed he had never opened a browser on his phone before.
In other words, Facebook IS a utility and needs to be treated as such.

@alexisdyslexic Also, most countries have gotten rid of the abusive deals where telcos would offer free access just to Meta. But in many countries, you can get a chip with free access to "social media," which just means Meta plus a few other companies. In fact I'm using one of those services right now! Posting here costs me data (a tiny amount; I got 16GB of data for about $7) but posting & reading Whatsapp, Instagram or Facebook is free.
