I feel like advertising should be a more common point of radicalization. Like every gas pump screams ads at you, every scenic vista is plastered with gaudy billboards, and every interaction on the web is choked with ads to the point that some sites basically don't even work. There's a real sense of aesthetic injury that I think speaks to a perverse way in which we are constantly re-asserted as consumers against our will.

There's something deep and primal we're being robbed of. Every possible moment veing invaded by some marketing team's ideas of how to manipulate you into buying something. We don't even think about it every much, but who gave some rich men the right to plant an ugly banner across the lush green hillside you drive by heading into the city? Who told those rich men that they could insert themselves into storytelling and music and learning every two minutes until you can hit "skip ad"? When did you decide that you were happy to give up a few peaceful minutes if it meant that some half-baked new reality tv show could try to get you to watch while you wait for a bus or for your gas to pump? Is any of this what we all really want? Does anyone think this is good?

@PallasRiot you can actually mute gas pump ads by pressing one of the middle 2 buttons on the right i forget which one
-
@PallasRiot this is why i rip it all apart with adblock and element block and zap and destroy everything with reader mode and use freetube for youtube and such... i want the content but i refuse to be blasted by BS every time i watch a page... can't wait to get the algorithms to block ads IRL with AR glasses too
-
@eris @PallasRiot second from the top on the right side
-
@eris @PallasRiot I have permanent markers in my glove box specifically to write "MUTE" on the second button from the top on the right at the fuel pump
because FUCK THOSE ADVERTISEMENTS
-
@technobaboo @PallasRiot Oh I would loove an IRL adblocker that will let me AR black rectangles over highway billboards, bus stop ads, etc.
-
@[email protected] the fucking loud gas station ads at the pump. I hate when they give it audio. It’s literally so bad

@puppygirlhornypost2 @technobaboo @PallasRiot I'm sure the hardware was excellent. The problem was letting silicon valley techbros write the software for it.
