A thread on Bluesky funding and origins that's well worth reading. None of this is news but I don't know how widely known it is, and this thread does a good job of putting it together. I've got some thoughts in the replies at https://infosec.exchange/@thenexusofprivacy/113477787132333873 and https://infosec.exchange/@thenexusofprivacy/113477862518931487
Note that the first post in the thread talks about "anarchists", where I think "anarcho-captialists" would be more accurate. There's a lot of discussion of that in the replies, quite rightly pushing back. But that's not the only important thing here!

@jdp23 I think the author sees anarchism as sort of a gateway drug to anarcho-capitalism, via "small government" ethos.

@[email protected] good point, that could be what’s going on. Also sparking disagreement in a subthread works well as an amplification technique on Twitter so people often tend not to worry that much about getting contentiod stuff wrong if they don’t see it as undercutting their main point https://infosec.exchange/@thenexusofprivacy/113478068372194895

@jdp23 However, I don't really see that as wrong. I've seen anarchists promoting cryptocurrency in the past as a sort of economic justice. Honestly, I think they would still be doing that if it weren't for people like Molly White.

@[email protected] fair enough, "wrong" is too strong ... "imprecise" is a better word for how i see the term being used in this context.
