@octothorpe my car ironically came from California and yet has a heated steering wheel. Game changer. Especially driving home from a freezing run down the back of a mountain in the dark. Thaw out your hands!

@octothorpe Especially with leather or pleather seats. Quality of life/driving life seriously improved. Now, if I could choose either just the seat or the backrest or both, that would be even better.
Signed: I love me some heatpads -
@nwreg Mine ostensibly has that option. There are three levels of intensity and the first level is bum-only.

@nuthatch it’s interesting. Neither of our csrs have heated steering wheels, but Bill’s Q5’s wheel gets *vastly* colder than the RS5. His is solid leather wrapped, and mine is perforated leather, and I wonder if that’s part of the reason.

@octothorpe “if you have the means… I highly recommend it”

@nuthatch Donnow what my next car will be… it should be an EV. Just donnow when and what flavour. Frankly, the interesting ones aren’t in the US.
But it will heat all the things.

@octothorpe I get very sad thinking about what my next car might be. It either hasn’t been made yet, or is very old indeed.
“As a software developer, I want a car that contains as little software as possible.”
Like, fine, a RTOS to run the engine efficiently, but not something that reports everything I do, everywhere, all the time.

@nuthatch exactly. Maybe I do something dumb like retrofit an old Mercedes SL with an electric motor.
