Meta did a really interesting press play this week - they lead their policy changes with the removal of fact checking.

@jbaggs @munin @GossiTheDog My pov is that unless used in a way that can be construed as pejorative it's alright e.g. academic/detached context, I don't see how it's an issue, maybe because it's not my experience to have them used against me as a cishet brown guy in asia.
-
@AzureArmageddon @jbaggs @GossiTheDog
Spelling this out:
Hey, asshole, it's not your fucking word to use in my fucking face, so shut your godsdamned fucking face and stop putting the fucking slur in my mentions, you absolute fucking waste of skin.
Is that fucking clear enough for your useless fucking ass?
-
@AzureArmageddon @jbaggs @GossiTheDog
It may be fucking academic to your ingrate fucking privileged fucking experience, but this is my fucking lived fucking experience, so take your fucking academic fucking detachment, roll it into a tight fucking cylinder, amd fucking shove it someplace your fucking proctologist will find it supremely fucking awkward to fucking extract, you absolute cockwomble.
Have I made myself fucking clear enough for you, or do you need it spelled out in words pf a single fucking syllable?

@AzureArmageddon @jbaggs @GossiTheDog
Do not fucking instruct a trans woman on the correct fucking use of a slur that applies to her and not to you; it is well beyond insulting and gives me a strong fucking desire to see you -flensed- like a sperm whale in the Pacific in 18 motherfucking 65.
-
@munin @jbaggs @GossiTheDog Sorry (If it helps I didn't mean to lecture but to learn)

@atax1a That it's bad despite context but not why the context doesn't seem to matter

@AzureArmageddon to belabor the point: not everything requires your input or opinion, sometimes the right thing to do with a thought is to keep it an inside thought.
-
@atax1a @AzureArmageddon it's also possible to disagree though. And the notion that you can't have an opinion on the fact that a slur is a slur when there is a semantic/intention behind, and not as a pure sequence of letters, unless that slur applies to you is imo absurd. It's an opinion, a debatable one, but still. Feeling legitimized to directly and personally insult someone else for having expressed a legitimate opinion (not even committing the "crime") is even more absurd.
-
@sudneo congrats on missing the point
-
@sudneo to belabor the point: your opinion on the matter is not legitimate, hth hand
-
@atax1a and that is your opinion. This is also a discussion that can easily be extended to any slur. Speaking a language (and given the fact slurs exists against multiple aspects of my identity, if that matters - it doesn't imho) my opinion is legitimate on language use. You might think it's not relevant, and that's your prerogative. But anyway, I got the point, I simply disagree with it.
To go even further, I think a whole series of insults like the one above should be subject of moderation.
-
@sudneo thats a lot of words that don't mean anything
