@elena Yeah it is unfortunate, however it won't affect other forks who likely will remain dedicated to the fediverse.

If it happens it might be indeed the end of an era, but Im not sure if that would be such a bad thing. Not fully convinced yet that all software needs to federate with each other. Can totally imagine Misskey saying that they only want to federate with other software that can display their emoji reactions, as they view the emoji reactions as an integral part of the entire message.

Software stating their minimum federation requirements that go beyond 'display note as plain text stripped of all html/markup' would be a good thing for the longer term of fedi I feel tbh
Especially since it doesnt seem like Misskey wants to block Mastodon, just not spend effort on fixing bugs and other efforts on maintaining interoperability (which both sides have not really been doing anyway lol)
