Common mistakes in reo Māori - Siena Yates
One of the scariest things as a new learner of te reo Māori is speaking the reo out loud. What if you make a mistake? What if everyone laughs at you? What if you accidentally offend someone? - Practice, practice practice. This means producing language, even if it has some mistakes in it. Give yourself time.
- Don't expect to understand every single word when listening. We fill in the gaps in our native language all the time and don't even notice it, so holding yourself to a higher standard while you're still learning is setting yourself up to fail.
