Fun fact: as Pat Gelinger resigns, we see a roughly equal stock bump in Intel and TSMC. I guess the bet is that Pat's expensive sprint to gaining manufacturing advantage is over and they will just let TSMC win

@Techaltar I really don't understand the stock market. As soon as I read the news I expected shares to plummet (is it a good sign when a CEO resigns when the company is in trouble?), yet we see the contrary. I guess I'm just not good at this stuff

@Mrcuve0 The stock market is pretty arbitrary, but I think the overarching feeling is that Pat's strategy of pouring tens of billions into the manufacturing turnaround wasn't working and was extremely expensive. The hope is that with him gone another strategy might emerge. Whether this is right is to be seen

@Techaltar ''Intel's stock is jumping at this announcement, but I look at it as a bad signal for Intel 18a. If 18a was looking to be a smash hit then I don't think Pat gets retired. If 18a is a success then it is an even more short-sighted decision by the board.' top comment from HN by etempleton.

@etua_en yeah I think if 18a was as good as pat hyped it he wouldn't have had to retire
