If you don’t mind replying can you tell me your generation? I’m curious how this differs across generations.

@Rycaut more physical, GenX… but these days and for a while I’ve preferred ebooks except for ones with a lot of visual content or ones that would be a thing of beauty in their own right. Most of the physical books are decades old, and often when I start re-reading them I soon re-buy as ebook anyway for comfort of reading.
Really should do the calibre thing; knowing me will leave it a day late.

@Rycaut I'm 70, but my house burned down with all my physical books a couple of years ago. I avoided buying physical books until I moved in to my replacement house, not wanting to move too many books from the rental.

@elysegrasso sorry to hear that and it makes total sense. Each time I have moved in the past few decades I've shed a bunch of books (a few of which I now kinda regret getting rid of - but most likely only would have gathered up dust). I've now been in one home for a decade so definitely time to do some editing. I think I have more physical than digital books but it is also hard for me to fully count all of my digital books which may be more than I realize due to past bundle purchases etc.
