@ebuie do you mean linking your Mastodon account with your BlueSky account?

@andresmh When I asked that, I didn't have a BlueSky account, and I wanted to use the facility to communicate with BlueSky users. I have a BlueSky account now. I'm not sure how this all works (I used Twitter from early 2008 until very recently), and I want to make it as easy on myself as I can.

@ebuie ah gotcha! For now, Mastodon/ActivityPub is separate from BlueSky/AT. But there are bridges that allow you to cross post.

@andresmh @ebuie Not sure but I think this refers to a bug with one of the bridges. I have the same issue but not bothered enough to look up a solution, yet. If you click on the bridge account in the mastodon app/website, your should be able to follow it. But this doesn't seem to work under some circumstances. Instead you just see a page with json or xml code.

@alarith @andresmh @ebuie Looking up the exact account in the search box should work in the Mastodon web UI as well as any mobile client. Or even easier, click on an account mention: @bsky.brid.gy If nothing is badly broken, that should allow you to view the profile and follow the account.

@alarith @andresmh @ebuie That happens even if you click on the tagged name in my post? I don't know either how you're ending up on a browser tab on a different site, that's indeed not supposed to work like that.
Instances can block the bridge, but if hci.social did, you would not see my tag of it as clickable.

@alarith @andresmh @ebuie Might be worth writing an issue at https://github.com/snarfed/bridgy-fed/issues if you have the time, so @snarfed.org can take a look at it. I scanned through the list of open issues but couldn't find anything that matches this at a glance.
