I ordered a standing desk and I got it with assembly.
-
@kestral Ooh nice!!
-
@welshpixie I mean, it's no Doggy Time but it's close.
-
@kestral if you could construct a standing desk entirely on your own, you probably wouldn't want an accessibility tool like a standing desk, right?
-
@Talen_Lee Excellent point well made. I feel slightly less guilty after my cat came down to help the guy. And help he did - turns out the person building the desk is nuts about cats but can't have one at home, so really enjoyed having a fluff ball crawl all over him whilst assembling.
-
@kestral @Talen_Lee It was impossible for one person to assemble my standing desk. I had to get help because I just could not have flipped the thing over onto its legs.
What did you wind up ordering?
-
@nomad @Talen_Lee I did not get a fancy model but I found a great one from Claiks UK that was reasonably priced and fits perfectly, I've got a CRT and I'm leaning on it and it's very sturdy, and it goes up and down like a dream.
-
@kestral I've had one for fifteen years and wouldn't go back.
-
@elsemusic what’ve you enjoyed most about it? Noticed many benefits?
-
@kestral The first day I had trouble standing more than an hour, but by the end of the first week I could stand all day without problems, so there's that. I added a wobble board about four years ago, and that had a similar adoption curve; I don't have to think about it now, which means my balance has improved significantly as well as those leg muscles involved in standing upright.
Making music is easier standing too. I don't have to scoot around on a chair, stand up / sit down all the time.
-
@elsemusic amazing! I was thinking of getting a walking treadmill conveyor thing too.
