I am going to ask a favor of my friends. No I don’t ask lightly.

I am going to ask a favor of my friends. No I don’t ask lightly.
Last year, my family was split, and we became refugees in our own nation due to draconian laws that made my child illegal to exist in our home state. We were lucky, we had the means to escape.
Most didn’t.
I know you hate our political climate. I assure you, I share a lot of that sentiment. But, your vote really will matter in this election.
I often am quite passionate about single issue positions that candidates take, but please consider that so much is at stake this cycle.
Please join me in choosing to protect trans kids.
If not for me, for my child.
If not for my child, the hundreds of thousands of others.
If not for them, for the future of these children going forward.
I am doing everything I can to protect those in danger of having their voting rights taken away. I can also guarantee that I have protected your personal data( likely more than once) over my career, and now I am asking you to stand with me, my family, my people… to push back the impending darkness to defend those who cannot defend themselves.
Help us continue the work done to protect these children from the same lizard brain shit we all faced when we were young.
Thank you for your consideration. I hope you can find it in your heart to help limit the threat.

@thegibson I'm watching Paris is Burning for the first time. When it came out in 1990, the default expectation was for parents to reject and disown their queer kids if they got found out. The queer community has always been a necessary lifeline for gay and trans to have some sense of family. It's not that there are more of them now - it's that there is more safety to be real. But it’s still an uphill battle, and we know damn well that any human right is not guaranteed to stick in this country. VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE OMG VOTE

@thegibson As a kid, I was taught by a wise teacher that once any group of people becomes unsafe under a government, absolutely no one will be safe any more.
I voted, but I'm also looking into what else I can do with my existing abilities.

@thegibson sending you so much love - while I can’t vote in the upcoming election given my non-citizenship, I stand with you in solidarity
