Someone shared a picture of our #UCTech2024 talk. It was a good conference overall. It was great to make some connections across the UC System and hopefully more opportunities for #opensource collaboration will come as a result!

This makes this talk the *second* talk of the event to discuss #OpenSearch. I'm glad to see it's getting more adoption in the UC System. It's certainly been a helpful tool for us in our stack.

@vwbusguy How's Infisical working out for you? We want to move away from Vault in the long term, but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

@tongpu We moved from Hashicorp Vault to Infisical last year. It's not perfect, but it's been better for our use cases. I like that it has the built-in concept of dev/test/prod for the secrets and it's integrated decently well with our config management, CI, and Kubernetes environments.

@tongpu I'll put it this way - I evaluated a bunch of Vault alternatives and Infisical was the one that annoyed me the least in the places where I could live with those annoyances.
I pushed for Vault but was having trouble getting adoption and Infisical is actually getting used so it's definitely been worth the money spent as far as I'm concerned.

@tongpu At some point, I wrote a script to migrate all our Vault stuff into Infisical. If I think about it when I get back, I'll try to find it for you.

@vwbusguy That would be nice.
I also just realized that Infisical got a lot more features since I last looked at it. The missing PKI functionality was what kept us from looking at it too closely back then. -

@tongpu Yup - it's come a long way in the past year.
