@mistertim @akstuhl I can’t read the post directly from the link, which says it all to me. The proposal reads to me as: remove the web from Mastodon and replace it with a BBS or usenet. I cannot see moving backwards technologically appealing to non-retrocomputing enthusiasts.

@rdela @mistertim @akstuhl whilst GTS has been able to implement some new safety features (reply collection control) it hasn't done so in a standards way, so others can only implement by copying (which is something we're trying to not do with Mastodon anymore because it left huge headaches to clean up later)
I'd suggest spinning up a copy of GTS and looking at its built-in moderation features: last I recall they were pretty basic/under-designed, maybe they've improved since then.

@rdela @mistertim @akstuhl I should also note that hopefully we'll find a solution soon to the perceived chaos. There is still a lot of work going on to improve both Mastodon and ActivityPub's trust & safety.
