The thing with pagers that is different from a modern mobile is there is empty space in them. The form factor was designed for AA batteries. I don't think we will need to worry too much about exploding mobiles turning up, bugged? Absolutely, almost definitely already happening. Exploding? Likely not. You'd get annoyed, and return it because the low battery life from shrunk battery needed to fit some explosives in meaning you wouldn't have a big window to get them distributed.
Other things though? Oh boy do we have some scope for that. Keyboards? Mice? Games consoles? Phone chargers? Sex toys? All have empty space inside one could hide things. Most we already see bugged.
Houses burned down because of an incendiary device hidden in usb chargers distributed everywhere?
Keyboards that detonate next time a key is pressed after receiving a signal.
"Death by exploding vibrator" is not something I ever expected to think up but I'll be shocked if it never happens. -
@mindpersephone wait, so the pagers actually had explosives inside them?? It wasn't like some trick to blow up the batteries? That's horrifying
