@octothorpe I was being a bit silly but, for example, the drone on Rhythm Of The Heat is some glorious ’bad digital grit’ that really helps the song.

@jon_alper @octothorpe From what I can find, looks like he still had a II or maybe a IIX at that point. Still limited to 8 bits (but 32KHz if it was a IIX). The III was out by then, but he didn't get one until after finishing So.
I too love the short, low bitrate squonk.

@tankgrrl @jon_alper I have the So documentary and it’s featured in part of it (in the cottage in Somerset), including the UI. He was using the Fairlight prior to So (IIRC), so it’s possible he went from a I(xx) to the III.
