There's a lot of (bad) #AmericanExceptionalism around food, such as not having bakeries in neighborhoods & containerizing "fresh" foods in plastic. As holiday dinners near I'm thinking about how Americans (that I know) ruin toasts. In my life experience Americans have an absolute obsession with touching glasses, *everyone's* glass if they can, and there is NO EYE CONTACT because all eyes are on not spilling their glasses as they carefully tap every other glass reaching all over the table.
