So one of my job perks is I get free admission to the aquarium any time, and I get 24 free tickets for friends and family. And next week, I get to take 3 friends to the 40th anniversary party which I honestly hope to god is inside one of the rooms surrounded by the open sea exhibit

I went to the aquarium immediately once we moved to California and it was also a wonderful trip because we got to take cookie with us (left her with sitter when we were at the aquarium).
So many happy memories, and now I get to work there, surrounded by the ocean, birds and wonderful nature!
I’m hoping I’ll befriend people who actually work with animals. They even have a full time staff photographer who has incredible work of course

At my job interview, my boss remembered I was into birds and he pointed out how the building we were in had some nice bird-proof glass (and how that was something staff had advocated for). The office was full of large beanbags in flounder and other shapes.
The merch store sells shirts with great puns.. I truly believed I have my plaice

@skinnylatte it was one of the places my boyfriend (now husband) took me when I first visited him in the Bay Area. 🥰
His parents tell a story about getting an invitation to become lifetime Monterey Bay Aquarium members when it first opened, but they didn't spring for it... and ended up spending far more money over the years taking their kids there.

Best part is, I applied for this job as a joke right after I got a job offer rescinded (to work at a pharma startup)
