As a person from a food culture that really likes soup (and has soup at nearly every meal), American ‘bone broth’ is really weird.

@skinnylatte Yes, this! I love soup, but like just eat soup, you don't have to drink plain broth.

@RickiTarr @skinnylatte I have only used bone broth to make soup. I sometimes make my own, but still, as the base for other ingredients to be added.
-
@nirak there's a place in SF that does bone broth ON TAP
it's a very weird health food thing
-
@kimlockhartga @RickiTarr yes... i've just learned some people drink it neat, like from the bone broth ON TAP shop here which makes me so puzzled
-
@skinnylatte The thing that cracks me up about Bone Broth is that until some fitness or health idiot decided to call it that, it was just what we called Broth.

@skinnylatte @kimlockhartga @RickiTarr That's weird. I'll drink chicken broth hot when I'm sick, but not just like...to drink.
-
My 'bone broth' hack: get a $5 rotisserie chicken, eat it
Put the rest of it in an instant pot with any vegetable scraps you've got
Cover with water
Pressure cook on high for 40 min
Strain

i'm so picky about my soup that i won't even order a whole soup noodle dish here at Asian restaurants unless i know they have really good soup (they don't all have good soup) hehe
-
@amiserabilist @Kierkegaanks i'm not against bone broth as a concept but also this is a bit like 'bulletproof coffee'
lots of other food cultures have been making soup like this, but there's a whole marketing-speak around this that makes it a whole other thing
-
@skinnylatte Ohkays, if you ever show your face in Helsinki, there is a noodle soup safari available.
-
i have never tried it and my only regret is.. That I have.. Boneitis.
i also never heard of bulletproof coffee.
Bulletproof coffee, also known as butter coffee, is a high-calorie caffeinated drink made with added fat. It is intended to fuel start your day by replacing carb-heavy breakfasts. It was created by the originator of the Bulletproof diet, Dave Asprey, an American entrepreneur and author. The drink has become popular with low-carb and keto diet followers.

interesting.
my diet and lifestyle are not conducive to longevity.
i have made my peace with that.

@amiserabilist @Kierkegaanks ahaha, nepali and chinese people have been putting butter in coffee for a long time.
once when i pointed this out, i was accused of racism towards.. white people
-
@liiwi I’ve been there. I don’t think I will have too much Asian food there it’s fine, but it also isn’t the best thing I can have there

@ScotttSee it just screams MAN SHAMPOO
