You know those videos that show you what English sounds like to non-English speakers?
This TikTok of what Mandarin sounds like to non-Mandarin speakers is the same idea, but the effect is SO different.
Unlike gibber-English, which truly sounds like gibberish, gibber-Mandarin sounds like extremely technical Mandarin. Like research/medical/philosophical Mandarin.
At least it does to me.

@jeromechoo I prefer xiaohongshu. More variety of southern accents that feel more familiar. I also watch Teochew and Hokkien videos there

@jeromechoo I even have camping info in mandarin from California based folks from China there. Appreciate the diff perspectives. Try typing any city name, you’ll get good reviews (my ex’s ice cream shop shows up in a European city on there!)
