For some reason I always thought Pumpkin Spice was like how they make paprika (dry bell peppers and grind them).

For some reason I always thought Pumpkin Spice was like how they make paprika (dry bell peppers and grind them). I thought they did the same with pumpkin. Turns out, it’s just the spices you add *to* pumpkin (pie)

Pumpkin Spice, the unknown American Spice Girl

The advent of this "pumpkin spice" retailer fetish - Starbucks just the tip of the iceberg - has almost put me off pumpkin pie, which used to be my favorite.

@skinnylatte What's really messed up is that the concept of "pumpkin pie spice" has completely taken over the "pumpkin ale" space, so practically every beer that says pumpkin on the label tastes like a damn pie. But pumpkin ale isn't a flavor profile, it is an actual style of beer with actual pumpkin flesh in the malt blend. Sadly this distinction has been lost and many so-called pumpkin beers have zero gourd content.
We could have better pumpkin ale, possibly. But maybe we don't deserve it.

@[email protected] @[email protected] WE DESERVE IT DAMMIT. Life is too short not to enjoy a proper pumpkin ale : (
