does anyone make good and durable mice anymore? I've gone through 4 high end logitech mice in 5 years, because the scroll wheel keeps crapping out. After a while, the direction it chooses to scroll just stops having much to do with the direction I move my finger. It's the absolute stupidest failure mode. I want to buy from someone else, and stop rewarding logitech for building trash.

@jenniferplusplus the logitech scroll wheels are super flaky. I've had to take mine apart twice to clean it out (because cat hair), but every time I do it starts working again. I have a G502, not wireless, and I am not looking forward to the day I have to replace it but I know it's going to be soon.

@mattly @jenniferplusplus I will never stop singing the praises of CST trackballs (now made by XKeys) - but people who like mice generally don't like trackballs.

@datarama I had an Apple Trackpad I got in 2010 and finally replaced in 2020 because I wanted the new model with the cable so it could work with my KVM. No moving parts!

@mattly I've gone in the opposite direction: My trackball *is* a moving part!
(I have, because the size is exactly right, replaced the actual ball with an 8-ball.)

@jenniferplusplus Logitech has really dropped in quality. The expensive trackball I got from them lasted maybe a year. So far Kensington has been holding up much better

@dbsmasher i just learned that Kensington also makes mice, and I'm considering one of those. So does keychron, apparently. I'm pretty happy with my keychron kb, so I might give the mouse a try.

I learned keychron makes mice, and given how well my keyboard has worked out, I'm giving those a try.
