@technomancy I really *want* to make it work but it’s like, it’s either, go with someone’s pre-made config and live with their mistakes, or make your own mistakes when evaluating the 20+ options you have to make something work like a thing that any editor made in the last 15 years gives you out-of-the-box for free

@mattly @technomancy I gave up when I realized my good friend Tims talked about emacs the way I talk about my motorcycle: that it's a terrible idea and that it will probably kill him one day but that he could not imagine life without it and it was worth the countless hours he put into it

@nasser @technomancy Yeah, I’m kind of adhd-allergic to tinkering on things in that way; it’s not that it’s not enjoyable, but it’s not healthy for me at all
I still think a more modern take on the underlying ideals of emacs could be amazing
