It's bittersweet to me to think about that we're going to lose Voyager I & II sometime in the next 12 years and there's absolutely nothing we can do about it.

meanwhile on Earth their progenitors are hitting their 90s and passing away. It has been difficult to lose that generation of planetary leaders -

Around 2030 they will no longer be able to power any instrument. The RTGs generate less and less energy each year and that amount is going to dip below the point where it can do anything.
Then in 2036 yes, it gets out of the range of the deep space network.
