Gods I hate answers to LaTeX questions.
-
Not even because of anything that the answerers have any control over.
But because everything with LaTeX is SO COMPLICATED and has SO MANY WAYS TO DO EVERYTHING.
Person 1:
"I wouldn't use <x> with <y>, instead I would do <lists a bunch of working code but that involves a completely different set of packages>"Person 2:
"Oh you can do that with <foo> package, but keep in mind <long list of caveats>"Person 3:
"IME this is caused by a bad interaction between these you need <random option>" -
Person 4:
"Oh, when I had this problem I did <thing that involves a bunch of manual work on every line>"Person 6:
<random line of code>
- comment: "uh, this code doesn't work as is, can you provide a full MWE?"Person 7:
"Oh you can do that with <yet another set of packages that you aren't currently using>"Like people are very helpful and also wtf.

@hrefna The apparent complexity of LaTex has turned me off every time I've looked at it. I suspect it's not actually that complicated, but from the outside it sure looks it!

@mhkohne I love LaTeX until one of:
1. I am doing something I haven't done before.
2. Something goes wrong.
At which point my love of it sours real quick.
