Empirically, so far, the single most effective way to achieve this has been to touch the cloud less.

@danderson POLS. The principle of least surprise. A computer ought never do anything it hasn’t been told to do by the user or owner.

Brought to you by unearthing an old branch where I was trying to build AMIs, a modest ambition that should have been easily realized. And then I found all the little things that each wasted several hours of my existence to figure out, all due to the twenty five loosely coupled warring things that try to touch _my_ shit in clouds.
Don't forget to `cloud-init status --wait` or AMI construction will fail non-deterministically!
Oh no, one of the various cloud tools hasn't learned ed25519 yet, ...

@mos_8502 @danderson that's not really feasible right now since systems have become rather more complex. The user cannot be involved in the minute details these days.

@martin_piper @mos_8502 it doesn't have to be blind dogma. IMO it's a useful guide star, even if it requires some nuance to apply.

@danderson Dear Microsoft: why do I have three documents folders?

@deepthaw oh that one's easy: it's for your three documents. Please avoid having more as coming up with new synonyms for "document" is quite a large time sink, and saps resources from finding new ways to trick you into logging into your microsoft account.
