Sweet Jesus a Cantonese church is doing screamy ‘Jesus saves you from hell’ street preaching in Chinatown

I found the song!
I never knew what it was called. I just knew it as ‘the song Hokkien boomers boom out of their boombox’

@skinnylatte Falun Gong are a lot better when they're quietly exercising, and not leading a megaphone'd protest procession down your street at way too early in the morning.
I actually kind of like that Vietnamese culty woman, Ching Hai though. No loud parades. No fighting with Chinese nationalists in the downtown, as happened during the APEC summit in 2023. Only tasty vegetarian food and funky shrines.

@KraftTea Ching Hai has caused a lot of harm to Asian elders in her cult and she endorses Trump

A very old Chinese woman is wearing a hat that has a photo of a Chinese man on it. It says RAYMOND XU VLOG
.. her son? Cute, but odd

A 15 person (old men and women) band sitting in the middle of the street under a tent playing traditional Chinese music. I usually associate this type of music with funerals, so it’s nice to hear it in a joyful context

@skinnylatte Bad cult leader. Not going to eat your Crispy Mushroom Delight anymore. Also, do any of the Asian cult leaders NOT endorse Trump?!
Spent years in S.J. in the '90s. Owners of many Vietnamese restaurants prominently displayed personal photos w/ prominent Republicans, it seemed. True believers.One time, around '93 or so at a Vietnamese restaurant, a fight broke out w/ two LARGE families. Screaming. Broken glass. Food flying EVERYWHERE. Apparently, one family sold goods from Vietnam.

@KraftTea family feud over restaurant success and inheritance is basically the E and SE Asian succession plot line. And happens all the time
They’re all trumpers for sure

@skinnylatte
Hokkien was the language some of the Indonesians with Chinese ancestry spoke when I lived in South Sumatra in the late '70s. I didn't learn it. I just spoke Bahasa Indonesia and a bit of a local dialect.
#Indonesia -
@jon_harbert many Hokkien words in bahasa Indonesia
‘gue’, ‘lo’, ‘goceng’ and many more
