ok, i've finally switched over my primary browser to vivaldi.
mozilla has crossed a line with their "privacy-preserving ad measurement" bullshit being enabled by default

vivaldi has URL-associated notes?? also a built-in RSS reader??
these things make so much sense for a browser to have, i'm surprised they're not in every other browser too
-
vivaldi has a thing called "workspaces", but it doesn't isolate cookies, which defeats the whole purpose. how did they manage to add fluff like mail and calendar before thinking about isolated containers?
also, the previously mentioned URL-associated notes and the built-in RSS reader both ended up being useless. https://front-end.social/@mayank/112788049555255222
this, in addition to their abuse of notifications for nagging, is making me want to switch again, this time to something like waterfox https://www.waterfox.net

i've now made zen my default browser on desktop. it's very early stages and already way better than whatever vivaldi is doing. since it's built upon firefox, i get all the useful things like first party cookie isolation, tab containers, firefox devtools, (and no manifest v3). https://www.zen-browser.app/
on mobile i'm using waterfox for now, but probably will go back to firefox. https://www.waterfox.net/

i knew i could not rely on a chromium browser after they backtracked on phasing out third-party cookies.
in comparison, firefox introduced cookie isolation/partitioning all the way back in firefox 55, and turned it on by default for everyone last year.
this (and tab containers) should be tablestakes for any modern browser. but it would probably be against the best interests of google.
