I don't understand why the consumer level stick to CoteXY, there are better motion systems that move the bed on the Z axis. For example, the Markforged motion has stationary motors and shorter belts.

@bear_lab why are you assuming closed source?
-
@andy_warb Because Prusa has not made anything open source since the Mini. Also no mention that the printer is open source, same for MK4S. They play on words but that's it. The software and slicer are open because they are based on open source projects and they were already open source before the MK4.
-
@bear_lab I hope I’m proven wrong that it’s not another fauxpen source, open washed printer.

@linux_mclinuxface Oh it really is close source. No source are available for MK4 and MK4S (STL and STEP are not sources). If you read MK4S and CoreOne description you will see that they only mention open source software. All new software they launched recently are close source. We are still waiting the MK3S source files promised by Prusa when we asked them 4 years ago (github issue still open). Jo has said himself on X that open source is dead. It's done, no more open source product from Prusa.

@bear_lab I’m well aware of his track record.
The persisten open source messaging (and related myths) really grind my timing belts.

@linux_mclinuxface I have fought for this for so many years, and been trashed by Prusa online so many times, that it is a relief to see people finally understand the poop Prusa has made to open source hardware.
