"Mark Zuckerberg just announced sweeping changes to the social internet, all in line with the desires of President Trump and Trump voters.

#CrinimalGrandpa will gladly take all the free gifts that Zuckerberg offers. He'll say some nice things about Facebook. He will throw Z a bone once in a while.
But he will NEVER trust Zuckerberg and knows with certainty that Z will rollover submissively at the slightest pressure.
Like all before him, Zuckerberg sells his soul for little gain and much humiliation.

"Zuckerberg’s announcement comes as CEOs and business leaders across sectors are currying favor with the incoming administration of President-elect Donald Trump. Meta, along with other tech companies, donated $1 million to Trump’s inaugural fund, and ahead of the election, Zuckerberg praised Trump in an interview with Bloomberg Television without offering an outright endorsement."

Meta is scrapping its fact-checking program with trusted partners and replacing it with a community-driven system similar to X’s Community Notes, CEO Mark Zuckerberg said.

Very soon will be an unspoken (might be spoken ) but defacto "rule" that any media entity that has not "donated' to Chump will be in the legal sights for retribution.
Will be publicly displayed open bribery.
Chump will be shielded by SCROTUS immunity ruling.
Then psbly expand that "rule" to other entities/businesses.
Chump will gain more money during this reign than at any other time in his life.
Chump's legacy: most venal occupant of the oval office in US history.

One thing that is also concerning me is that I can't access this information unless I subscribe. In future, reading solid news will be key rather than trash from the Right. We are all in such dangerous territory. My husb says Trump will be past his sell-by by midterms; my prediction is that he'll delete midterms. Or Musk will seize total control.

"Believing that Zuckerberg and his cohorts in the tech oligarchical class are showering Trump in millions of dollars or somehow changing their behaviors because they’re 'afraid' of him keeps us from recognizing the larger truth: this is who they are."

"This isn't about Meta being scared of Trump. It's about Zuckerberg recognizing an opportunity. He's not capitulating to pressure; he's aligning himself with power. There's a difference. The company that claimed it needed to protect teens from LGBTQ content is now suddenly concerned about having too many content restrictions. What changed? The political winds."

Meta's sudden embrace of "free expression" comes with a telling catch: it only applies to the right people.

@wdlindsy it's late-stage capitalism now entering the age of early-stage fascism.
Exactly what happened in Germany in the 1930s. You need to get in line with the fascists otherwise you get shut down. It's not even a decision.

@wdlindsy Zuck continues to be the guy with everything who stands for nothing. He's made himself Trump's personal putz along with Bezos. Trump calls them Thing 1 and Thing 2. Now Musk thinks his title is Ambassador to the Universe but Trump refers to him as Lieutenant Major Moneybags.
