I REALLY don't want to join #Bluesky and love it here on the fedi.
-
@bloodaxe ohhh I agree that's why I love it here. The quality is so much better. The "worry" is that I'm missinf out on some quality people if I don't go into the walled garden.
But I don't wanna lol
-
@kbsez I'm here. Thanks for the reminder. And I donate monthly to my server. Huge fan
-
@codemonkeymike @bloodaxe It’s peaceful here. Also I like Linux AND dad jokes.
-
@codemonkeymike I've been using GNU/Linux for almost four years now. I love the community here.
-
@codemonkeymike Does it need to be as big as Bluesky before it's valuable to you? Keeping it small might also keep it good. Anyway, I still joined Bluesky to camp my username. So there's that
-
@CyberSloth @bloodaxe you're in good company then.
Why did legolas open up a dating service in Fangorn Forest?
He was just trying to make Ents Meet.
Ents Meet ... Lol.
-
@codemonkeymike @bloodaxe I think we just became best friends.
-
@rocky1138 not at all quality over quantity. The worry is that I'll miss quality people that aren't on here or that I just haven't found.
Hence this post. Which is already making me feel better
-
@codemonkeymike For sure. You should also follow @JuliaMinamata if you don't already.
-
-
@rocky1138 @JuliaMinamata I wasn't, but am now
-
@codemonkeymike all i see on bsky is politics, memes, pop culture stuff - it seems like a way way more general audience. i even did a thread test, check it out:
here -> https://mastodon.social/@Viss/113506510718782385
bsky -> https://bsky.app/profile/viss.hax.lol/post/3lbayexmavk2k
you tell me which one did better
-
-
@paulyd @killyourfm your in! And huge fan of Jason!
-
@Viss yes that's exactly it. Back when I was on here and Twitter and would ask for help or an opinion on something. The response here was 5000x more useful and positive
Thanks for the reminder

@codemonkeymike I love PHP.
I’ve paid bills writing in it.
I’ve paid bills breaking apps others wrote in it -
@corycarson PHP always paying the bills. Literally bought me a property, house, truck and entire family lol
-
@codemonkeymike I have a similar pathway as you, moved from mostly PHP to mostly elixir a few years ago.
I left twitter because of the algorithm and noise, I'm not moving to bluesky as I know it's gonna be more of the same
-
I followed you today as I am getting started with NixOS, switching from Ubuntu.
-
Give it time. I don't remember when I started on Twitter, but I'm guessing I was over there roughly two years before Xitter happened.
Which is just about exactly how long I've now been on Fedi.
In the same time, I have 4.5 as many followers, FAR more engagement, and althogether a much more pleasant experience. (The big secret I discovered is following hashtags. Total game-changer.)
