Rather than paying taxes to fund public institutions that are nominally subject to democratic limits and excesses, they get to funnel money towards organizations they control that A, serve as free publicity and reputation washing machines while also B. pushing society in a direction they want. It's ridiculous.

Only one kind of good billionaire: former billionaire, and even that's subject to a lot of conditions.
