i've got nothing to say about this movie so far it's just completely good in every way and this mid-intro title sequence is just like a victory lap around that goodness #monsterdon

ok so you would think that vampires would have worked something out for mirrors, they do have to look presentable to blend in with people and get blood and stuff. it makes perfect sense that checking out each other's look would be a very normal part of vampire culture, like you wouldn't think twice you would just fix up someone else's look because you know they can't see it and every bit of blending in is good for the vampire cause, more blood for everyone, lower risk. #monsterdon

So since vampires not seeing themselves is particular to mirrors, but they can still be seen by biological eyes that there must be something very fucked up about the way light refracts off of them that it doesn't survive as a coherent image through a first reflection - the light bends and scatters off of them in such a way that it decoheres. they also don't show up in photos and videos right? does that just have to do with the fact that most cameras use lenses to focus the light? like if one just directly exposed a sensor or film to light without a lens in the way you could capture the vampire?

@jonny its because mirrors used to be made with silver which would 'burn' their reflection
-
@[email protected] I recall hearing that the mirror thing was because of old mirrors having a reflective silver backing; if that's the case, in theory any non-silver backed mirror should work. So definitely a mirrorless camera would work.

@Taweret oh so they should be able to be seen in modern mirrors? or did mirrormakers patch modern mirrors to burn the image in some other way out of respect for the lifestyles and needs of vampires #monsterdon

@jonny some movie needs to address this issue
-
@[email protected] @[email protected] I bet all modern mirror consortiums are owned and run by vampires, and they specifically switched away from silver backing so that the number of vampire detectors out in the wild would drop.
-
@[email protected] Having said this, if the film stock uses silver halide, you're not gonna capture that vampire.
