"preauthorization", as a concept, should be 100% against the fucking law.
-
fuck you! Why is it my goddamn problem that I need to give you medical records going back X years just to continue a prescription I've been on? Fuck. You.
-
This medication costs $6,000 for a three month supply. A month cost me something like 2 euros in Spain. Our entire system is so fucked and FUCK everyone in government who keeps it this way. Fuck everyone who asks that people die and suffer so they can keep buying their fucking yachts. Fuck you people.
-
I hate the goddamn system in this country so much.

@aud a large part of what attracted me to my current job is that I every day I get to work on upsetting the insurance industry

@[email protected] Thankfully no. It's Briviact, which is literally the only medication that has worked to control my seizures.

@aud like i really need stimulants to survive but i would easily work on homebrew insulin and hrt first (not least bc they're hormones and probably easier to make)

@[email protected] what they do with insulin... they should be taken to the Hague and shot.
-
@[email protected] It's still on patent here, hence the insane price.

@[email protected] maybe! Or my brain just melts into a pile of slag. Totally different, obviously.
This brings back my feelings of anger at people telling me how "getting laid off" was "the best thing that had ever happened to them" since my brain basically has a ticking counter that goes down if insurance runs out.
Thankfully, I do have insurance. They just need "pre auth". Fuckers. -
@aud let me guess: you live somewhere in the United States of America.
-
@[email protected] yep. land of the free to go broke and die from easily treatable medical problems.
-
@aud wait whatcha doing back in the states?
and yeah everything about US medical, insanity. ZA isn’t entirely as bad yet but is ever so slowly creeping in a similar direction, and it’s presently just about impossible to do anything about it

@[email protected] the tl;dr is that Barcelona wasn't a good fit for my spouse, so we hauled it back here (but came to the PNW instead of NYC like before). I can't say I missed dealing with the freaking health system.
On the medical front, there were issues with care there, too: basically, a lack of providers who could do the trans surgeries we wanted. Which... sucked. So it's not like the system was perfect or anything.... buuuuut I could get my medication. And filling prescriptions there was so trivially easy. Doctor puts it in the system, all the pharmacies use the system, and boom. They hand you a box, you're done.
