Had to pay to get it painted when I moved in, and they took the cost of re-painting out of the security deposit I left. Of course.

woke up to a message from the prior landlord's agent in Spain threatening to notify the police about an "unpaid gas charge", for which the bill lists specific dates and meter readings (that are all after I left) and when I pointed that out, they claim the gas company says it includes prior unpaid bills that had been returned. My bank account has nothing but paid bills and none of them were returned and so of course after waking up to threatening messages in Spanish I've now had to send a ton of receipts.
I suspect the energy company fucked up because their billing and accounting are shit.
But that's when I learned that no, all my security deposit is gone because they "had to repaint". Christ. -

@[email protected] About 300 euros, which I am pretty sure I have already paid. I sent a bunch of bank receipts and despite us having been texting back and forth very quickly before, there's now silence. I asked for more specifics about which charges were returned because I have receipts of paid gas bills from both before and after I left the apartment, so the company has been receiving money for me for the time I was there. So I'm just like, where's this magical 300 euros coming from?

@[email protected] yep, that's what happened here, too. I'm especially salty because they asked for more money to get me in there AND despite it being illegal I had to pay the agency fee because "oh, that's the market." Leeches, all of them.

@aud they really are a lot of shameless fucking bastards, I gave them a piece of my mind but ofc it won't do anything, they'll just keep doing their thing

@aud I don't think you'll get an international arrest order from Interpol for 300€.
If you're payments are up to date, fuck them.

@[email protected] lmao that would be pretty hilarious : D
But yeah, I agree. I'm going to need more than a vague bill and a threat to be reported to the local policia to cough up 300. Like if they have genuine proof I owe 300, fine. But I don't see it. And a bill dated to meter readings specifically taken from the period after I left the apartment isn't cutting it. No vague "oh they say this includes charges that were returned"... when my bank is full of paid charges to them. and 0 returned ones.
