Okay, it's kinda late but I wanted to get this done before the weekend: my website now supports HTML-based slides as accompanying material for publications. This means:
- better screen reader accessibility
- automatic dark mode
- crisper text

Pressing "p" starts the hidden presenter mode, so I can give these talks right from the website.

Older presentations exported from PowerPoint etc. will remain as image sequences with alt text. No way to sensibly convert those. But hopefully this will stick going forward, provided it works well enough.
@bastianilso I ended up creating my own version of this functionality (again) instead of using reveal.js. Go figure.
