hey, who's still around on Mastodon? Left X a long time ago but missing my community much. Just not sure if it's still active on here.

@securescientist I feel like the academic community is doing better than most, but it's simply not on the scale of former Twitter.
From what I hear, computer and information security specificially seems more collected here than anywhere else, largely thanks to infosec.exchange and its halo effect.

Exchange but wanted to join a more academic server, i just find it a bit quiet in here. Probably following the local timeline there too would help. -
@securescientist I think there is a fair amount of potential for discoverability still on the table. I have an idea sloshing around in my head on how to do Bluesky-style follow recommendation starter packs in ActivityPub, but it'll be months of dev work and the projects are just piling up.
But yeah, hashtags may help, or also directly following a lot more people. I remember I was following 50 people on Twitter, and am now following >1k here.
