just 15 minutes to go before they’re out of window and I accept the fact it will be dumped at a random corner shop later this afternoon so I can finally focus on work

great excuse for I couldn’t be arsed to find you as usual. in theory I am meant to be in the office tomorrow, but I might have to be at home now. ah well. -

getting things delivered always makes me so angry because the companies that have one job... are just so bad at it?
yet somehow amazon consistently manage it so well?
i guess the incentive is for amazon to be better at it so people spend more money with them, whereas for carriers it's just moving yet another box that they'll probably always move, so no incentive to be good at it, just to get it done, eventually -

lol four out of the last five times we ordered something Prime Next Day it turned up 2 days late. we ordered a Today By 10pm item yesterday, it's now slated for turning up on the 12th, and when we tried to cancel because it won't turn up in time they now say it's not within policy to get a refund for that reason.

@gsuberland I guess it’s all highly regional as to how well it works, because I’ve seen so many people complain about Amazon too

@0x47df it used to be far better. I have definitely done order cancellations and refunds for not meeting Prime delivery targets before. their policies got a lot more shit in the last couple of years.

@0x47df they also used to have 24h support chat here, staffed in Ireland, and then they outsourced it to India and Brazil with staff that don't have strong enough English to really understand anything you're saying, and more recently they reduced the operational hours to 06:00 to 00:00.

@0x47df honestly I think Amazon fucked themselves by not tackling the ongoing problems of reviews being only tied to SKU rather than SKU+seller (so anyone can ship any old junk as long as it has the right barcode for the listing and you have no idea what you're getting, so it's literally impossible to evaluate legitimacy of things like batteries) and the flood of identical whitelabelled products you can buy on AliExpress for a third the price. they're past the point of no return now though.

@gsuberland @0x47df Do Amazon even know? My understanding is that for Fulfilled by Amazon stuff, they sort of just pool all of the inventory for one SKU…
