hey web dev, what is your take on stretched links technique for content cards with a link?Feels like a shady hack, but it's used widely.. #webdev #dev #HTML #CSS

@Julianoe feels like a hack, but I now use them quite often as it help maintain proper HTML semantics.
-
@MathieuOnline is it, though? other than styling issues (that can be dealt with, at the price of an increase of CSS lines), what is the benefit compared to a wrapping <a class="card"></a> element?
-
@Julianoe @MathieuOnline Il me semble que c’est plutôt une mauvaise pratique de faire un lien sur un groupe de contenus divers, notamment pour les outils qui permettent de naviguer par liens (comme le rotor de VoiceOver).
-
@HTeuMeuLeu un `aria-description` ne règle-t’il pas ce soucis ?
-
@nhoizey @Julianoe @MathieuOnline La première règle d'ARIA blablabla…

Il y a un codepen par @matuzo qui liste les avantages et inconvénients de plusieurs techniques : https://codepen.io/matuzo/pen/ZEqbXOM
-
@anthony @HTeuMeuLeu @nhoizey @Julianoe @MathieuOnline Note : solution 8 works with CTRL+Click or Middle Click, whereas solution 7 doesn't.
I don't know when Vikas Parashar released his solution but I think it's the first time I see it, and it looks perfect.
BTW, I think there was a article on @matuzo's blog about these solutions but I can't find it anymore :blobthinkingeyes:

Hm, no, I think it was just the CodePen but I've dedicated a subchapter in book to the topic.
