just got reported for "mocking mutual aid" in the mastodon for harris tags because i said "seriously unironically please give me thousands of dollars so i can not be homeless in a handful of months"

the vast majority of reports we receive (and then immediately resolve with no further action) on cyberpunk.lol are assholes being shitty about our users posting mutual aid

That's how it should be: posting on the MutualAid hashtag, when actually talking about Mutual Aid, is legitimate traffic. When I see a report about someone using it, I look for abuse, and if it's just normal use, I resolve the report without doing anything. More often though, I suspend people for abusing the MutualAid hashtag to disparage people on it, especially since I often go to their timeline and it's full of hate speech.That said, when I see a report for posts misusing the MastodonForHarris hashtag, or any other hashtag, I usually delete it, because it's not relevant to the hashtag, and that does make it a form of spam. I don't even think I'm applying it evenly here, because I only delete them, when I would escalate with someone abusing MutualAid because they're attacking a vulnerable community.
Anyway, you're probably getting the reports because forwarding is on by default and they don't realize you're instigating the hashtag abuse.
