So the Mrs.

So the Mrs. and I are having a friendly little fitness competition this year and I was psyched b/c I was sure that blowing the snow off the long driveway would ensure my victory today. I discovered after finishing that my stupid watch decided to "pause" my fitness rings halfway through, even though I probably walked several miles. In reality, I must have done it myself with all the mittens and layers, but I mean come on. Why does this feature even exist? Who "pauses" their fitness tracking?

@briankrebs Someone having an energetic affair?
-
@briankrebs I do it all the time when I’m taking a break. And sometimes I forget to start it up again.
-
@briankrebs you'll have to run next time. 6th gear on the blower, overlap only a few inches each pass.
-
@rednikki Wait, you do? Why? To be clear, I'm not talking about the little runner icon that comes up and asks you if you want to record a workout.
-
@briankrebs I've felt that frustration. Hand in pocket (e.g., for keys or something) pauses my tracking. At the same time, when I'm biking I always *forget* to pause it. I bike to the store, leave it running for 45 minutes while I shop, then bike home, and curse myself for now having a record of a 2.5-hour ride with an average speed of 5 kph.
-
@rednikki @briankrebs I pause during long mountain bike ride breaks, don’t want to track time while resting.

@briankrebs People in secret US military bases?
Oh, wait, they don't.

@briankrebs If you take a lunch and picture break in the middle of a hike, the average pace looks terrible. Same goes for naptime. (Yes, it happens.)

@briankrebs My AW is clearly meant only for Californian climate. Operating it our current weather gives me regularly your experience.
